International Design Competition for Korean Museum of Urbanism and Architecture
The touch of nature
The Sejong Museum of Urban and Architecture aims to be an international-level architectural museum. The world's leading architectural museums are closely related to their respective regional characteristics. It also aims to support and disseminate architectural knowledge to citizens. The most important characteristic of the Museum of Urbanism and Architecture that we would like to propose is to emphasize the natural context of the surrounding, not the shape of the museum. The shape of the museum is as restrained as possible to give it the role of a city background. In addition, the site where the museum will be located is an important architectural context in which the surrounding natural environment is important. Within the framework of the continuity of the existing natural environment, it is intended to have the spatiality of the Museum of Urbanism and Architecture by bringing it into the museum. By composing an open space with nature, the museum activates the direction of approaching the museum at the same time as the surrounding landscape. This allows museums to become part of nature and provide a cultural space with a unique and special identity.
세종 도시건축박물관은 국제적인 수준의 건축 박물관을 목표로 한다.
세계의 대표적 건축박물관들은 각각의 지역적 특성과 밀접하게 관계하고 있다. 또한 건축 관련 지식을 시민들에게 지원하고 배포하는 목적을 지니고 있다. 우리가 제안하고자 하는 도시건축박물관의 가장 중요한 특징은 박물관의 형상이 아닌 주변의 자연적 맥락을 강조하고자 한다. 박물관의 형태는 가능한 절제하여 도시 배경 역할을 부여 하고자 했다. 더불어 박물관이 위치할 예정인 대지는 주변 자연환경이 중요한 건축적 맥락이다. 기존 자연환경의 연속성의 틀 안에서 이를 박물관으로 끌어들여 도시건축박물관의 장소성을 갖고자 한다. 박물관은 자연으로 열린 공간을 구성하여 주변의 경관과 동시에 박물관으로 접근하는 방향성을 활성화 한다. 이는 박물관은 자연의 일부가 되어 독특하고 특별한 정체성을 갖는 문화적인 공간을 제공할 수 있다.
